The stock markets closed with slight weakness for the second consecutive day i.e. on Thursday. Sensex closed 30 points lower at 58,250 and Nifty slipped 8 points to 17,353. During the trading, there was volatility in the market. Sensex improved 325 points from lower level while Nifty improved 100 points. Earlier, Sensex opened at 58,350 and Nifty opened at 17,375 points.
Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 15 shares rose while 15 shares closed with weakness. In which the shares of Kotak Bank closed with a gain of 2.94% and NTPC, Titan shares gained more than 1%. On the other hand, Nestle India’s stock fell 2.44%.
The IT index on the NSE closed down 0.78% and the Auto index fell 0.52%. Wipro’s stock fell 1.68% in the IT index. In the auto index, the share of Exide India saw a decline of 1.43%. The market got support from banking stocks. Shares of PSU and Private Bank performed well.
3,343 shares were traded on the BSE. In which 1,812 shares gained and 1,366 shares closed on the red mark. With this, the total market cap of companies listed on BSE has crossed Rs 254 lakh crore. Earlier on Tuesday, the Sensex fell 17 points to 58,279 and the Nifty slipped 16 points to close at 17,362.
During trading on the BSE, 199 shares were seen trading at a 52-week high and 26 shares at a 52-week low. Apart from this, upper circuit was engaged in 260 shares, while lower circuit was engaged in 178 shares.
